Entry Category: Corporate Identity, Logo/Trademark (B/W or full color)
Entry Title and Organization: Florham Park Library Logo, Splendor Design Group
Award Received: Silver
Challenges: We faced a relatively short time frame to complete the design (3 weeks) and the design needed to meet the approval of a panel of about 6 people from the library.
Description: Florham Park Library needed a logo that would unite the ideas of the traditional library (books, magazines, etc) with the modern information resource it had become (internet, digital resources, etc). Because they serve residents from children through senior citizens, it was important to convey the history and tradition of the facility as well as their technological facilities.
Strategy: Marriage of traditional and modern elements to create a logo that encompassed all aspects of the facility and appealed to all generations of library users.
Strong, conservative color scheme (navy and cool grey); Contrasting typefaces (Modern Sans Serif meets Classic Serif); Clean elegant layout; Clever iconic mark: with pages from a book – paper on the left and digital pixels on the right.
Results: The new logo has met with resoundingly positive feedback from both the client (library personnel) and residents and users of the library. The subtle, yet expressive logo has found home on all stationery, newsletters, signage on the building and on a modern, state-of-the-art website. This new brand will serve as a cornerstone of all future outreach and marketing efforts.
